CHAPTER 11

 

ELECTION OFFICIALS

 

Now, therefore, the Town Board of the Town of Wilson, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, does ordain as follows:

 

11.01   Statutory Reference.  This chapter is enacted pursuant to section 7.30-7.32, Wis. Stats.

 

11.02   Appointment.  On or before December 31st of each even-numbered year, the Town Chairperson shall nominate and the Town Board shall select a sufficient number of election officials to provide a panel of seven together with such additional persons as may be necessary to serve as alternates or relief officials.  The nomination and selection process shall follow the requirements of the statute.

 

11.03   Number of Officials for Each Election.  The Town Clerk shall determine for each election whether the full panel of seven election officials shall be required to provide adequate service to the public, and whether alternate or relief officials should be utilized.  Based upon the expected turnout, the Clerk may select a reduced panel of five or three officials provided that the statutory requirements for representational balance between the two dominant political parties shall be maintained and the Clerk notifies the Town Board whenever a reduced panel is utilized.

 

11.04   Scheduling of Officials for Each Election.  The Town Clerk shall determine the work hours to be assigned to the election officials for each election, provided that the chief election official shall be scheduled to be present from the opening of the polls to the closing and provided that the statutory requirements for representational balance between the two dominant political parties shall be maintained.

 

All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

 

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by reason of any decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of any other section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase or portion thereof.

 

The herein Ordinance shall take effect upon enactment and publication.
