CHAPTER 13

TOWN OF WILSON OBLIGATION TO PAY STATE AND COUNTY TAXES

THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF WILSON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Whereas, Wisconsin Statutes Section 7.067 requires the Town Treasurer to furnish a bond to the County Treasurer in the amount of the sum equal to the amount of such state and county taxes as are levied upon such municipality;

Pursuant to Subsection 2 of Section 70.67 Wisconsin Statutes, municipalities may eliminate the need for filing said bond by passing an Ordinance obligating the municipality to pay all state and county taxes in the event the Town Treasurer fails to make proper settlement with the County Treasurer.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF WILSON THAT:

• The Town shall be obligated to pay all state and county taxes in the event the Town Treasurer fails to make proper settlement with the County Treasurer.
• The Town of Wilson may demand from its Treasurer, in addition to the official bond required of all municipal treasurers, a fidelity or surety bond in an amount and upon said terms as may be determined by the governing body of the Town of Wilson, which bond shall run to the Town Board and be delivered to the Clerk of the municipality.
• A certified copy of this Ordinance shall be filed with the County Treasurer and shall be accepted in lieu of the bond required by Section 70.67 Wisconsin Statutes.
• This Ordinance shall remain in effect until a certified copy of its repeal shall be filed with the County Clerk and the County Treasurer.
