CHAPTER 6

6.01 Authority. The Town Board has the authority, pursuant to sec. 60.22(4), Stats. (1995-96), to specify the jurisdiction and duties of the Town of Wilson Constable(s).

6.02 Constable issues Determined by Town Meeting. Pursuant to sec. 60.10, Stats. (1995-96), the electors at the Annual Town Meeting or at a Special Town Meeting may determine:

6.03 Jurisdiction. The jurisdiction of the Town of Wilson Constable shall be limited to the areas bounded by the municipal boundaries of the Town of Wilson. The Constable may assist in emergency situations outside of the municipal boundaries when ordered to do so by a Town Supervisor or the Black River Fire Department Officer-in-Charge.

6.04 Duties. The primary duty of the Town Constable(s) shall be to see that peace and order are maintained in the Town of Wilson. The specific duties of the Town Constable(s) shall be set forth in the Constable Job Description, as reviewed by the Wage and Salary Committee, and approved by the Town Board. The Job Description shall be updated periodically by the Board. An updated Job Description shall be presented to the Town Constable at the time said Constable takes the oath of office, or at any time that the Job Description is modified.

6.05 Non-Exclusivity. This ordinance does not preclude the Town Board from adopting any other ordinance designed to address peace and order or to enforce laws and ordinances in the Town. Nor shall the jurisdiction and duties of the Town Constable as stated herein preclude the Town Board from proceeding under any ordinance or law or by any other enforcement method to enforce any ordinance, regulation, or order."

Section 2. Effective Date. The herein Ordinance shall take effect upon enactment and publication.
