Dog Licenses

Dog licenses are available year round for the current year. Licenses are valid January 1-December 31 of the current year. The dog licensing deadline is March 31. If your dog is deceased, or if it no longer lives in the Town of Wilson, please complete the Notice of Dog No Longer in Town of Wilson form and mail to the Town of Wilson Treasurer. If you have questions on dog licensing, please contact the Town of Wilson Treasurer.

Yearly Fees

A copy of the current Rabies Vaccination Certificate, indicating if the dog is neutered or spayed, must be presented with the payment of the dog license.

  • $14 – Male or Female
  • $7 – Neutered Male or Spayed Female

Late Fee

A $25 late fee will be assessed for each licensable dog that is not licensed by March 31, or within 30 days of acquiring ownership of a licensable dog.

Puppies

Young pups get a break!

If your puppy becomes 5 months of age AFTER July 1, then the license fee is half the cost for the current year.

Dogs Over 5 Months Old

We love dogs!

To be in compliance with our dog license ordinance in the Town of Wilson, a newly acquired dog older than 5 months of age, must be licensed within 30 days of acquiring your new dog. Please remember a current rabies certificate is required for licensing your new pup.

Dog Breeding

Any household pet kept for hobby breeding shall be declared when annual license(s) are paid. (Town Ordinance, Chapter 62).
